About Me
Hi, I'm Edward Sivyour, a web developer and designer based in Greater Manchester, Bolton. I've been working in the web industry for over 10 years, both as an in-house developer and freelance. I specialize in front-end development, but I also have experience with back-end development and dev-ops.
I'm passionate about creating beautiful, functional websites and web applications. I love working with clients to bring their ideas to life, and I'm always looking for new projects to work on. If you're interested in working with me, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
What do I do for fun?
I love music (doesn't really matter the genre or language, I'll listen to anything), video games, food and tech. I also love reading articles relating to IT, and I'm a big fan of daily.dev (as you may be able to tell from the Dev-Card below)! daily.dev
A Background In Design
I started out practising graphic design, and while I no longer take on graphic design or branding related projects, it gave me some interesting insights into web design; developing skills in typography, UX, and a myriad of other design principles. This facilitated a balance between my creativity and my technically minded interests in my development work.
Why Development?
Something about design didn't quite scratch the itch, and it took me a while to realise that I was more interested in the technical challenges that come with development. Combined with a rather saturated talent market, and the lack of organisations wanting designers "in-house", I pivoted to web design, and then development. Something about web development was so much more... satisfying. The more I learned, the more fun I had, the more I wanted to learn. A never-ending cycle of chasing the next challenge.
I've always been coding in some fashion, writing batch scripts and learning VB as a young teen, to now, learning and implimenting frameworks and libraries like React, Express and NEXT.js.
